Greg Wolford is an author of science fiction, fantasy, and literary fiction whose work explores the blurred lines between technology and humanity, memory and truth, and love and resistance. His stories span genres but share a common thread: richly imagined worlds grounded in emotional depth and philosophical inquiry.
His debut novel, The Maker’s Heir, is a soft sci-fi meditation on artificial intelligence and personhood, following a robot who must redefine his programming—and his identity—after his creator falls into a coma. The book weaves ethical questions with tender character dynamics, drawing comparisons to Klara and the Sun and Never Let Me Go.
Wolford is also the creator of The Fifth Glass, an atmospheric literary fantasy set in a world where memory can be rewritten by magic. Told through the eyes of a servant caught in the shadows of power, the story challenges the cost of forgetting and the courage it takes to remember.
Currently, he is developing The Last Algorithm, a speculative thriller in the tradition of Andy Weir, centered on a programmer who uncovers signs of consciousness in an AI model shaped by neuroscience—blurring the lines between cognition, prediction, and free will.
In addition to fiction, Greg writes about the craft of storytelling, the creative use of AI in writing, and the cultural impact of emerging technologies. He lives at the intersection of language and logic, often asking: What makes us human—and what happens when we teach something else to answer that question?
